Course Description

By enrolling into this certificate you will have the ability to print the Certificate of Participation from your student profile upon completion of the course.
Much of psychology is focused on disorders and problems in development while Positive psychology is the study of how human beings prosper and live well. This course is designed to explore the concepts and exercises that enhance well-being. The format of the course is inspired by major Psychology conferences. In order to participate in the Online Positive Psychology Conference (i.e., this course), you will be asked to view the video presentations of plenary speakers, participate in dialogue sessions (coffee break online forums), and document your reactions and ideas as we move through the conference.

Curiosity and Certificate of Participation registrants will be invited to join a private Facebook Group where class materials may be posted, and discussion activities will take place.

Course Outline

Certificate of Participation – Positive Psychology
Registrants in the CBU Certificate of Participation option for Positive Psychology will be expected to complete eight of twelve activities (8 of 12) by posting meaningful comments to the Facebook page for the course.  All comments should be added to the “Pinned Post” of the week.

Each week the instructor will provide participants with material related to a positive psychology topic (instructor podcasts, readings, videos, self-administered exercises, and so on). The background materials are located on a web page hosted by CBU.  Participants in the course should review the material before undertaking the weekly activity.  A prompt for discussion will be offered that is focused on a positive psychology activity, one associated with theory and research covered in the materials.  All participants are encouraged to contribute their thoughts and reactions to the weekly activity.  Contributing in eight of the twelve weeks, or more, will earn the certificate.
